Yes, yes and yes! We took great care to perfect our formulas and deliver a set of non-toxic, vegan products that deliver a buttery, vibrant, buildable pigment payoff. And of course, we donât test on animals or work with suppliers who do. Because you shouldnât have to compromise any of your values just to get a great beauty product.
Weâve got the cure for buyerâs remorse in our Virtual Try On feature that's COMING SOON. If youâre curious how a particular shade in our Micro Palm Palettes⢠will look on you, then all you need to try it on is a smart phone! You can try on every color in each palette before you buy it and even try on some custom looks created by Jo Baker exclusively for BAKEUP!
First of all, take a deep breath and relax. Let go of all the traditional rules about how âbestâ to apply color - or even where to apply it. As our co-founder Jo Baker says: âMakeup doesnât have to be perfect, even or symmetrical. You don't have to have fine skills to use BAKEUP.â We recommend applying these high performance artistry pigments over your favorite eye shadow primer. Use brush or simply just use your fingertips and apply them wherever you want a pop of color. Donât be afraid to go above the eyebrows, down your cheeks or below your eyes!
Try a simple sparkle in the corner of your eye, a prismatic beauty spot, or even a fake piercing! You can pair them with a complimentary or even color-clashing pigment. Apply them on your face, ears or even nails - there's no right or wrong way to adorn! Here's a tip: for extra stick or reuse of gems, start with your favorite lash glue.
The use of color additives in any products, even cosmetics, is subject to country specific regulations. The color additives in pressed pigments are approved for use elsewhere on the face and body, but not intended for use in the eye area according to US regulation.Â
We use a simple numbering system on our product packaging to denote which colors are eyeshadows and which are pressed pigments. You can also find that diagram on each product page as an easy reference.
See the FAQ above for the technical difference between eyeshadows and pressed pigments. Throughout her career as a makeup artist, our co-Founder Jo Baker has had to mix and match so many different palettes together to get the exact set of vibrant, high-frequency colors she wants. For BAKEUP, Jo wanted to create the palettes sheâd always dreamed of, with the exact pastel, primary and neon hues she wanted all in their own compact palettes.
As to why we used pressed pigments for some of the shades in our Micro Palm Palettes, it was all about the vibrancy and color payoff. Many bright neon or vibrant primary colors are not achievable without using colorants that arenât approved for use in the eye area. We chose to create our palettes with a mix of eyeshadows and pressed pigments since Joâs artistic vision includes using her clientsâ entire face as a canvas of self-expression, and she loves using bold colors to tell a story.
Another objective Jo wanted to achieve was vegan, cruelty-free cosmetics without âthe nastiesâ like talc, polyacrylamide and paraffin. In order to accomplish this we had to ditch using carmine, the approved natural color additive used to create some shades like reds, pinks, and purples, as it is created from crushed beetles, so we chose to formulate some shades in our palettes with pressed pigments.
