Get the Look: Doc Martens Inspired Makeup
There's no limit to where our co-founder, Jo Baker, derives inspiration for her makeup artistry. It could come from something in nature, a mood, an aspiration, or even someone's outfit.
If you're just dipping your toes into playing with the bold colors of our Micro Palm Palettes, then tailoring your makeup look to your outfit can be a great place to begin. For this look, Jo picked up on one vibrant color from Alyssa's outfit - the yellow thread in her Dr. Martens - and used it to create a simple, statement eye.
Here are a few tips from Jo if you want to create a similar look at home!
- Always apply an eyeshadow primer first. This gives your look longevity and your pigments their maximum color payoff.
- Use a flat brush to apply your color, tapping it onto the lid. Or, if you don't own a flat brush, just use your fingertip.
- Once you've created the color shape you want (here, Jo created a yellow cat eye), use a fluffy blender brush to soften the edges.
- Add texture to the color with mascara, using the end of a mascara wand to stipple on a gritty black pattern. Another fun alternative could be the onyx gems in the Playbox by Jo Baker.
